Heater Control Face Lighting
Just realised that I can only see the lower half of my heater control unit, not the red/blue temperature bar. I'm sure it used to light up too !? What does yours do, and if it lights up does anyone know how to get to the bulb and what bulb is needed please

I think the temperature control unit (manual heater controls) is different to the climate control unit (digital controls), so I don't know how useful that thread will beford tinny wrote:Hello, i think this has been covered before try this link

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

I had/have the same problem.
Illumination is provided by 3 bulbs - 1 top, 1 bottom & 1 for the heater speed switch. To access them you need to first disconnect the bowden cables linking the lever on the control panel to the control flaps. There are 2 of these. The one controlling the vent position (demist/feet/face etc) is on the lefthandside of the passenger footwell. The one controlling fresh/recycled air is under the bonnet, on the edge of the plastic ducting above the heater fan. Once you've disconnected these, use a pair of radio removal tools (the u-shaped metal ones, or ones you've made out of a coat-hanger
) - insert them in the pairs of holes either side of the control unit & pull it out. You'll find the bulbs fairly obviously now. In my case it was a poor connection with the bulbs rather than the bulbs themselves at fault, so I'm not sure what size of bulbs you'll need. When you put it back together you need to make sure that the outer casing of the recycle/fresh air control cable is clipped in the correct position, or you might find the lever creeping to the "recycle" position all the time
I've lost illumination to the red/blue control again & the speed switch sometimes needs a technical tap to get it to light up, so guess I need to get back in there again. If you find out what the bulb size is please post it
