no dash lights or rear tail ights

just went to use the bongo turned the lights on & there was no dash lights, looked outside had headlights but no tail lights, brake lights are working, looked on fuses fact sheet & says fuse box under bonnet fuse 8 lights (15a ) fuse 3 headlights ( 30a ) is fuse 8 under the bonnet for just the rear lights ? in main fusebox in dash it says fuse 10 panel meters ( 15a ) is this fuse for the dash consul lights ? its too dark to go out there now so it will have to wait until the morning , any help greatly appreciated, LEE

Fuse eight under the bonnet does the rear lights, instrument lights, front interior lights, and number plate lights. I know this as I blew the fuse, trying LED lamps in the number plate light fitting.

cheers brora, the fuse has blown so i iput another in & guess what it blew again, now i have just remembered that this fault could have something to do with the dvd player i fitted last week, it came without a connetor on the loom just bare wires so i had to cut and splice a perfectly good iso lead onto the mazda loom so the problem must lie there, it looks like ive got my work cutout tomorrow, cheers, lee

Is there a crossed circuit with the illumination wire in the iso loom lee?

A similar problem gets posted maybe once or twice a year on here,when the internal connections in the rear fog have collapsed/loosened,and the fog switch is unwittingly in the "on" position..

The stereo could be a coincidence lee, have a quick check that the rear fog is definitely switched off... (may save you the hassle of removing the stereo, if you don't really have to

)

it was my fault, yes i did cross a wire from the iso loom, BEWARE the red/black wire in the mazda loom, i used this as an earth but it blew the number 8 fuse under the bonnet

didnt notice anything wrong until last night when i went to use the bongo in the dark,

dissconected it found another earth point & bobs me auntie, this done it was time to fit and wire the rear view camera & the freeview box, the bongo now looks like a war zone inside having removed a lot of panels etc to run all the wires, just a couple more wires to run tomorrow than bolt it all back together, once that is done i can then get on with upgrading my leisure battery system wich arrived yesterday, lee

also , forgot to say that i have also got to fit the flush fitting fog light & reverse the seats so that they can still be used as a bed ( ie runners out , take apart, swop over then put back, ) i ll need a week off work to get over doing all these jobs, ( oh yes , i am off work ) lee

You are not alone...I dont think ive used opened my toolbox so much since i got the bongo

Not in a bad way though,i've had no probs, (touchwood) just upgrades,and modifications.

You'll be very suprised at how easy it is to fit the flush rear fogs lee....

it sems easy enough, i read a post on this a couple of week ago, not sure who posted it but it was very informative, pictures as well, the hardest part will be trying to find my little dremmel tool which is buried somewhere in my shed under junk that is destined for a boot sale,
