particulate filters

Post by kaird » Sat Jan 26, 2008 5:23 pm

Starting from Jan this year anyone driving in Germany needs to be aware of the need for a“Pollution Badge” if they're driving in a "Umwelt" zone. I've given a link and list of towns/cities below.

Unfortunately we live here in Berlin, and at the moment our "Bessie" doesn't get a badge. Meaning we need to park her out of town. (not handy when you need to load up for a trip).

I've discovered that fitting a particulate filter may make her elligible for a badge, but I know nothing about them.
Can one be fitted to a bongo?
Where can we buy one?
How much?
Can we fit it ourselves?

Any help much apprecaited,

Many thanks
Katie

I've seen that elsewhere and contacted them by e-mail telling them how short sighted it is as campers and motorhomes bring in a lot of euros. It is even more short sighted when you read in it that ANY petrol, fuelled engine however big and gas guzzling is deemed OK - what a load of b*******s.

As to retro fitting a filter I haven't heard of any yet becoming available but I could be wrong. If it is possible you can bet your local exhaust fitter will be selling them as it will be a real money spinner for them.

Why is it only ever the suspected/alleged/maybe/possibly evils of diesel that get stamped on?
NEVER the very real dangers of the devil's own fuel petrol??
