Engine casing underneath Freda

Post by Rambling Rose » Fri Jan 18, 2008 3:56 pm

:?: Have just purchased a Ford Freda, love it!. But ....every time we go over the speed bumps or drive onto our pull-in there is a terrible scraping noise from a plastic housing bolted under the gearbox with some broken fixings making it hang down - what it is for? Do I need to replace it? If so where do I get one? is it necessary? Please advise

it is just the cover for the engine, you could remove it or just fasten it back up in position.

My garage uses cable ties to hold it in place

Stops the rattle and won't work loose but can be snipped off if needed.

The tray stops the worst of the muck and water spraying up around the engine/gearbox area.

I'd keep it on if possible but the van will run ok without it.

cheers

Aero-dynamics are better as it smooths out the airflow under the body and as it ducts the air past the engine it should help cooling as well.
