child car seats
Help, this is the first time i've used the forum, i hope i'm doing it right!! Anyway, we've tried today to find a car seat to fit in our beloved bongo, preferably in the front (because we can..) or anywhere, it seems that the seatbelt anchors are too far forward, both front and rear, to provide adequate security. It may have been the incredibly jobs-worthy baby shop owner, scaring us to believe that our ultimate arrival wouldn't be safe in our bongo but it did seem that most bases and seats had problems around the anchor/plug things!! Thanks in advance, i just hope i'll be able to revisit the forum to read the replies.

hi and welcome to the forum
there are several posts about this, the following one seams to sum up the consensus

I feel this is a question that crops up regularly so maybe those with or have had child seats that fit can list them then this can be collated to a fact sheet.

Excellent idea Warrior. So come one all you rug rat transporters, list the make of seat fitted, where you purchased it from and maybe a couple of pictures.westonwarrior wrote:

Thanks for all the tips, i've made a note of all the ones that will fit. At the same time we have also solved the problem of the seat belt socket being too far forward by removing the lap belt from the rear seats (currently residing in our attic & rarely used) and bolted the socket under the carpets onto the chassis, by way of the seat bolts (very handily positioned and available) so now we have two sockets on the passenger seat, the new one being further back, enabling us to buy and use the pram compatible, car seat we favoured. Thanks again for the help..
our 2 (36mths/18mths) are in Britax seats cant remember which type (ill have to wait till the command module returns t find out) but they fitted fine with no hassle or worries. I did have a toyota 4runner when our first was just born and the baby seat only fitted the front due to short seatbelts. you put the seat in at an angle and did up the belt then slid the carrycot down onto the seat base...it wouldn't shift then but it was just too tight to hold the seat in place and do the buckles at the same time. If you want exact details reply. I think the carrycot was a Gracco. we still have it so I could check for you.

We went to Halfords, last year, with a problem about fitting seats to Bongo. A very nice man tried two Maxi-Cosi seats and the one that fits perfectly is the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP, we didn't buy one because we can use our grandsons seat.
We have an AVA 4 seat full conversion and, great people that they are, they utilise the original sliding track system for the seats which gives use of the existing three point seat belts. Seat fits best on offside of rear bench+seat in our conversion.
I have recently fitted another bench-seat, a cut down split seat, will let you know if the seat fits that one.
Hope that this is of use.
Cheers for now,
