626 clocks and fog switch

Post by waycar8 » Wed Jan 09, 2008 7:09 pm

bought a set of 626 clocks, can the simply switched over like for like, or does it have to be just mph dial/clock?

the reason i ask is that it indentical to the bongo apart from it reads in mph.

also got a fog light switch but they didnt send me the wiring block that goes into the back, so anyone know best way to wire it up, as the 4 pins are really small for spade connectors, and does any1 know which pin is for which? as i need it to illuminate.

Thanks Wayne

Best just to rplace the clock as you will have it out to change the mileage reading ( and fit a coolant warning buzzer -a doddle - three wires at back of speedo!) . I think that the rev counter is different from the bongo item. You need to swap the binnacle clear perspex cover though to accomodate the trip meter adjuster

Do not plug the hole unit in, it will blow fuses as it is wired different. Just unscrew the speedo clock and replace it like for like. :D

they are just pushed on, i just used a couple of small flat screw drivers and put hem at the botton prising the needle up in a jerking kinda movement, left hand then right hand ect, but be carefull as tere is 2 small counter weights that just sit inside the round black plastic bit, i lost 1 of mine, good job i had a few spare out of the 626 clock :D

Yes,of course he is altering the mileage to match the Bongo My Bongo had 25.000 and the new speedo had 80.0000 The point I was making was that you do not touch the needle on the face of the new 626 clock to alter the mileage

so did you use a needle or sumat  , i tried to do it with the face plate and needle on, and it was very fiddly so after 15 minutes od messing about i took off the needle and the face plate and clear plastic backing, and altered the clock in about 10 mins from start to finnish. :D

might be just me who was doing it wrong, but i havnt altered the milage on a clock before  , you must have plenty of practice
