Hello again, i'm still searching for my revving problem and i keep getting drawn back to timing, can anyone tell me on which crankshaft pulley mark i should be setting cam/pump timing.
I've got two marks on the crank pulley about 10mm apart, cam and pump marks line up on one of these marks but obviously not on the other one, it could just be its timed on the wrong mark.
Cheers Norm

Hi, Norm,
The 2 marks you have on the crankshaft pulley are for adjusting the valves......... 1 mark puts #1 cylinder at TDC, to adjust 6 valves, then turn engine 1 full turn to the other mark, which puts #4 cylinder at TDC to adjust the remaining 6 valves.
As the crank is geared to the Injection pump, and you obviously have not disturbed that, the only marks you have to line up are the camshaft & Injector pump marks. Injection pump mark is at about 10 O'clock, not sure from the manual where the matching mark to the pump sprocket is........ The cam marks are at 12 O'clock.
After the belt is installed, turn the engine by hand, 2 turns clockwise, loosen the tensioner lock bolt to tension the belt (using the spring tension only). Lock up the tensioner bolt & turn a further 2 turns clockwise. Re-check the timing marks, then at the longest run of the belt, the deflection should be 9 - 10 mm, with 22lbs of force.
All the above is taken directly from the WL-T Mazda engine manual.
If you are confident all the above is OK, the problem may be fuel related. Did you change the fuel filter as well ?? Try it with the fuel cap off, in case of a blocked tank breather. By-pass the fuel filter (Temporarily) to see if that cures the problem, there is a valve type thingy on the top of the fuel filter housing, some type of diaphragm/regulator perhaps?? (On the Nissan 2.7 diesel in the london cab, the fuel filter has a primer pump on the filter head, which sometimes gives similar trouble)
I'm not sure if the Bongo has a pick up filter in the tank, or how you could get to it. Try carefully blowing down the fuel line from the tank to the filter to see if there is an obstruction.
Sorry to go on a bit, but I know how frustrating something like this can be.............. Let me know what you find..

If that is no help then there were other results, or try "timing and marks", or any other combination, as long as you put the "and" in between words you should get relevant results.
Hope this helps
