coolant / pictorial display
Is there a pictorial / drawing / re the entire coolant system, the sort of thing you would get in a Haynes manual. Showing every thing from the direction of water flow, the radiator to the collant pipes / thermostat / heater rads et.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Alpha, I reckon that when the 'stat is closed then the heavy blue line from the top of the 'stat housing to the expansion tank should be red.
When the 'stat is closed the bypass valve on top of the 'stat is open allowing the coolant to circulate around that circuit too. It would also allow the return from the reater matrices to circulate at the earliest opportunity.
And when the 'stat finally opens the whole malarky is red (ish
)
Just a thought...........
PS your pic is worth a thousand words on the topic, folks will be able to understand the system much clearer IMO

The reason I asked for a diagram is because after having new anti freeze put in by a garage, the heaters which used to deliver red hot air in a short space of time, now only comes out warm, but not really hot like it used to, the temp gauge is the same, so I suspect an air lock in the system, I wanted to find out which hose to take off to blast some water through the system.
Just a thought, my citroen is fitted with a vent valve at the heighest point, which you can open to allow air out of the system, I have automatic vent valves fitted to my house radiators, I have a automatic vent valve fitted to my 15mm hot water pipe for my central heating just after it comes out of the hot water tank, so, would it not be feasable to fit an automatic vent valve to the end of the vent / bleed hose ? Allowing trapped air out, but not the water / anti freeze mix......
What do you reckon.................

FFS Ken - get it bled ASAP or you'll be the next casualty in the head gasket woes!
Lots of info on how to do it on here - it's a labourous job but essential.
The bleed pipe is the purple pipe in alpha's excellent diagram.

Re: coolant
I think that would be an excellent idea - the old rear-engined Skodas used to have one under the bonnet/boot (the front bitbournemouthken wrote:Just a thought, my citroen is fitted with a vent valve at the heighest point, which you can open to allow air out of the system, I have automatic vent valves fitted to my house radiators, I have a automatic vent valve fitted to my 15mm hot water pipe for my central heating just after it comes out of the hot water tank, so, would it not be feasable to fit an automatic vent valve to the end of the vent / bleed hose ?
