OEM oil filters

Post by helen&tony » Mon Dec 17, 2007 3:49 pm

Hi
Having read PartlyDave's post on oil pressure light on startup, and the Bongo Clinic on the topic of Mazda OEM oil filters, and that Mazda ones have a non-return valve....where can I get an original part...do I take it that non OEM products (oil filter) can cause damage if used? It may be that these filters are for home- market cars only and European exports have a non- return valve fitted to the motor itself?

OEM oil filters

Hi Veg Ian
I suspect that a lot of Mazda dealers supply locally made approved parts....I found that with so called original parts bought from VW for my Type 2....that's why I wondered whether Bongos, and other Jap. home market products may have valves on the filters, and export models have a valve on the motor itself.....Mazda main dealers are a bit "thin on the ground " over here.
Cheers
