Chassis Clean
Got back at 1am from a trip down to Chassis Clean. Quite expensive, including 2 tanks of fuel, but I'm very glad that I went with the recommendations of various people on the forum. Richard & Jack have done a fantastic job on covering & filling all the vulnerable bits, and pushed the boat out to get it done in a day & a half, so that I didn't have to spend an extra night down there. In addition, they put themselves out to find accomodation for me at a reasonable price & transported me there & back. All in all I can't recommend them highly enough. Hopefully I'll be saying the same thing in 5 years time when the bongo is still rust free!
Bit chilly sleeping in it on top of Shap on Monday night though with 3C inside at 7am......

Indeedy they are - they don't compromise on standards and are very nice people to deal with. I've long since forgotten about mine - I just know my bottom is rock solid
When she went for MOT the mechanic called all his mates over to show them the Bongos bottom - he'd never seen anything like it - immaculate

They are in Altrincham, cheshire
mine cost about £450 but you will not find a better, more complete job. it comes with a certificate and a warm cuppa.
They did my MX5 at the same time. as Mike says the underside looks incredible and it is totally confidence inspiring. I have had several panels off recently routing some new wiring, and everywhere i look seems to have received a good coating of the cavity wax.... well worth it..

Two further thoughts:
My Bongo had not been treated at all before CC did it. It was in good nick underneath (superficial rust only) and i reckon that simply provided a good bond for CCs treatment. If mine had been waxoyled already I might have just accepted it and gone with having it touched up each year as I don't know if the CC treatment would work as well over an existing treatment
For those not near Altrincham/Cheshire, I cant believe CC are the only people who do this service. Might be worth making enquiries / searches through classic car forums to see who else is out there and more local to you. CC did say though that one other company nr. Coventry (I think) doing a similar treatment were charging £650 for it so their price is good for what they do. But its still a lot of dosh to pour into your Bongo. I got my Bongo well below budget and decided to treat it because of that.

As far as I've been able to find out tere are only 3 companies in the UK that do this treatment. The other two are based in the London area (well from up here "London area" does cover quite an area!). One is called "Before 'n After" in West Berkshire, the other is "rust-master" near Hatfield - think that forum members have used this one as well, with good reports.

Those look like useful finds Rhod. I visited both websites and they sound like they do a similar job at a similar price to Chassis Clean (but check they include the black 'hardwax', Dinitrol, or similar in the price as this is a key element - also reassurance they thoroughly dry the vehicle before applying waxes).
I'm sure there must be other specialists out there - anyone heard of others?
