Interior and exterior lighting

Post by Hooligan » Wed Dec 12, 2007 12:11 pm

Hi

Try to bear with my newness to all this... I've only owned her for 2 days so will no doubt have lots of questions over the coming weeks.
I've had a trawl through the databases (oh the joy of internet access at work!!) and there don't seem to be any clues.

2 questions....

1. Are the rear interior lights (centre Strip & rear bulb) meant to come on when the rear or side door are opened? ('Door' setting on the light) Cos mine don't.... although they both work fine when switched on.

2. I've got 2 unmarked switches to the right of the steering wheel. I'm guessing front and rear fogs, but they don't appear to do anything. If they are, it could be fuses or bulbs again.

Thanks for any info in advance.

Hi Hooligan - are you by any chance an escapee from Carpe TDM forum of a few years back???

The rear lights should go on with the side door open. Could be a dodgy earth at the door switch or in the rear tailgate handle - the microswitch seems to be behind the handle.

Strip light comes on with side door - rear lamp with tailgate. They have 3 position switches (off, on with door and on - switches should be in the centre position) - are you sure they're not just switched off? - it seems weird that both don't work.

the front and rear spot/fogs only come on with the engine running and the lights on ,(well on my bongo anyway) worth a check.
Lost without my Bongo.

Update....

Blank switches are rear fog (for def), and possibly front fog too but can't prove as yet.

Interior lights are both set to DOOR but fail to light in any mode apart from ON. I've checked the rear light and its has 2 earths and a +12v when it's ON, and 2x +12v supplies when its set to DOOR. Unfortunately both these supplies feed the bulb so it doesn't light. Wierd! :?

my two switches are rear fog and rear blowers for the heaters in the back, try turning your blowers on, flicking the switch then going backstage to see if theres any action from the vents
.......... cycling more.
