Rear wheel bearings

Post by jax » Thu Dec 06, 2007 5:07 pm

I have a nasty suspicion that I have a failed bearing on the rear wheel (s)

Does anyone know if the half shaft has to be removed to replace a

bearing and has anyone done this job themselves? - Why me Lord - I bin

good !

Just catching up old posts. Surprised you didn't get a reply to this one. I'm sure it was discussed (and techie advice made) on a thread some while back. Have you had a search on BF?

The half shaft does need to be removed having dismantled the brake assembly first. The bearing will need pressed off the shaft.
Best to replace the oil and dust seals at the same time - the oil seal is separate from the bearing and located in the axle casing.

Thanks to lushprojects again for the diagram :)

When i replaced my rear axel oil seal took about 2 hours so stick another hour on top and that should be your job time just to give you an idea
