Upstairs heating (again)

Hi Guy and Girls

I've been working on a fan to blow hot air from downstairs up into the roof to keep it warmer up there. It's now finished but I've not had chance to try it out yet

However I've just been flicking through the latest Machine Mart catalog and article #010410420 on page 14 looks interesting. It a 200W mains voltage slimline panel heater. I've emailed MM tech support and it's 4.8 Kg in wight and the surface doesn't exceed 21 degree Centigrade, which would make it ideal for sticking upstairs wouldn't it? They also do a larger 400W version too.

Any thoughts?

I'd think that, if the surface gets no hotter that 21C (70F), it would be useless as a heater upstairs in cold weather - imagine your home heated by radiators, that were only lukewarm to touch, in the middle of winter.

Agreed, but equally it's got to be better than nothing at all and will certainly help significantly with condensation.

The 700W oil filled radiator we use downstairs is plenty good enough to heat that larger area and it's only on 15% of the time (guesstimate)

I just leave a 1Kw convector heater on downstairs and wedge the little circular flap open - I was warm upstairs at our last meet and it fell to -4C on the Friday night (there's a picture here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 3&start=15 )

That's what my little fan is for - blowing hot air up through the hatch...

However it's not totally quiet (although it's very very quiet) and certain members of the family are a little bit picky about this
