In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
Previous discussion centred on the fact that it is illegal when on the public highway to leave the engine running if the driver is not in command of the vehicle.
The definition of public highway is surprisingly wide.
There must be a mountain of gash turbotimers somewhere as they are usually removed for SVA/ESVA purposes.

Hi
The laws over here seem to be stricter on some things like drink drive, radar detectors are HIGHLY illegal etc., but I've no idea about the turbo timers....I'll ask later....I want one for use when I leave the car in the yard when I come home from shopping....no prob....the car's locked behind 7 foot steel gates, so I doubt the Highway definition applies. The police rules here seem to be : if your'e comitting a crime, they'll have you, otherwise, life generally is far more laid back...just a case of asking after I've fitted it (standard equipment, etc.)
Cheers

loads of them about
ebay etc
i have one in mine must admit it is only novelty value to show someone
keys in hand, engine is still running how amusing
they are easy enough to fit though
4 or 5 wires if i remember rightly
12 v live , 12v switched live, (ie ignition on) , earth , engine start/stop(all located in the ignition wires) and one to the handbrake light switch as they will only work if the handbrake is on(or meant to)

The one that really tempted me was the timer that allowed you to start the Bongo using the keyless remote. I had visions of standing at my bedroom window in my underpants on a freezing morning (scary folks) and zapping the Bongo into life, heater blower already set to max, and coming out to it 10 mins later all warmed up and windows defrosted.
Nice

Hi Clogger
I've seen them on e-bay...is there any particular "Best Buy"
Mike...I like that idea, too, but I don't think it would turn on and wait for the glowplug light to go out.
Cheers
