Help!! Overheated Tonight

Post by ADAMD » Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:08 pm

Halfway home on a 7 mile journey from work, I noticed the heater was not yet warm, It didnt get warm at all.
Then I noticed the temp gate right up towards the top.
I pulled over - very dark, couldnt see if there was any coolant loss - no leaks, expansion tank cool, radiator cold to the touch, engine very hot to touch.
Left Bongo there for the night.

Any clues to what is wrong?

Please help!!!

Thanks

would sugest a lack of coolant, when light return armed with water or coolant mix and fill up, make sure you bleed the system properly.

Then check for leaks and keep a very close eye on the level in the expansion tank.

A location on you profile may help some local knowledge if it becomes needed

In the members section the fact sheets has 2 methods of bleeding the system.
If still in doubt I would consider a garage to do it, it wont cost much, not compared to a broken head anyway

After my recent overheating incident, I discovered a pinprick hole in the metal pipe between the rubber hose from under the driver seat and the top radiator hose. pics taken from underneath with plastic tray removed.
Drop of green coolant can be just seen.

Does anyone know if this pipe is available? Bongo bits don't list it.

Any repair tips, I would rather replace it just in case, but may use a temporary bodge.
Removing it doesn't look too hard.

You could always try some of that metal putty,I will see if I can find a link for it.

These are just a few has anyone tried any of these kinds of products on their Bongo with success??

As bodge what about a hose clip with piece of thickish rubber
rubber over hole tighten clip you could put a bit of sealant
on it for good measure or even the metal putty some one
talked of.
