Have a ticking noise from the front offside wheel area when applying the footbrake. Only noticed it in France at first as I was so close to passing walls etc when driving on the right. I now hear the blinking noise all the time now I'm attuned to it!
Taken the wheel off and all ok with plenty of meat on the pads. Just wondering if I pull the ABS fuse to see if thats causing it will I get any other odd reactions from any other system on the car.
Also I read somewhere here that there are more than one ABS fuse, is that correct?
Could it be antiskidding?

If it was the abs activating you would feel a pulsing
through the brake pedal, if you try to lock the wheels
on dirt rd or somewhere with little grip you should get
this effect as the abs stops the wheel from locking,
find somewhere safe and not to fast of course.
I would have a really good look at the disk it's self
look for cracks and such.

I'm not sure what the constant ticking could be. I thought you meant a single clicking sound when the brake was applied, which usually means a little bit of play in the pads.
Have you had a visual check of the discs?
I'm wondering if there is a pitting in one of the discs? If there is a stone or bit of grit stuck in the dust cleaning channel in the pad, then it may make a noise as it passes over the pitting in the disc...
I'm sure somebody will shed some light with this problem when they pick up on this thread

Thanks Ralph and BDC.
Had a good look at the disc and it appears ok. But it really needs me to pull the pads and put a DTI on the disc.
Turning the disc was tighter than I expected but theres loads of meat on both pads so it doesn't drag.
Its not antiskiding as there is no feedback to the pedal at all although I didnt hit the the pedal hard.
Its so regular that its doesn't sound like a stone or grit.
Will pull the ABS fuse(s) and see if it goes away.
And try an real heavy stop to see if the ABS if up to spec.
Think it may be a visit to Allans in Plymouth for a check.
Could it be anything in the engine bay?Where is the ABS unit?
Cheers all
