Rear strip light question

Post by granitetim » Sun Oct 21, 2007 10:01 am

Hope someone can advise me. The rear strip bulb is on the blink and I need to remove the cover. How is this done without breaking the lense cover due to heavy handidness?? Thx in advance.

I found a post on this and it goes like this

Fluorescent light in lift-up ceiling. (most people call them flourescent!)

The farinaceous (work it out) light cover is held in place by four little tabs.

One at the front, one at the back and one either side just abaft the small indentations.

It is best to remove it by squeezing it by the indentations so that a small gap appears. Get the finger nails into the gaps either side then pull it off, front end downwards first. Don't remove the back end first
Alternatively you could use two screwdrivers, but from experience that always marks the plastic.

The tabs look flimsy but didn't break when I just experimented for you.

Refit by locating the rear tab by the switch first then squeezing the sides near the front to get the other tabs relocated.
