roof bar info please

ok guys, looking to make my own roof bar set up due to lack of cash for some of the lovely set ups Ive seen on this site, so here's what I know:
hole centre to hole centre =109.2cm

What thread is the captive nut in the free top??
What is the accurate distance between holes front to back?

M8`s should do the trick. Measure the depth of the threads in the roof with an ikea pecil, couple of washers and coperslip and a set of 401 roof bars from halfords, don`t need a foot pack just bolt it on!

Please show us a pic of your roof bar assemble with the 401 roof bars, I can't picture how to fit them.

will see if i can foto it 2mrw.
I had to ever so slightly enlarge the hole in the middle of the base plate of the rack to accept an 8mm bolt, other than that it couldnt be easier.
