No the rear fan is independent on its own, that why it has its own fan and resistor

rear fan

Post by helen&tony » Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:45 am

Ah...the next episode of "fan fiddling". I took the rear panel off , well Tony did, and one by one I checked for voltage across the terminals of the plug which I pulled off the resistor, with the dash switch on and off. I also checked for voltage across the two terminals of the plug on the side of the motor. I got no readings at all. I did, however, forget to turn the dash fan on, so I believe that I may have to check again with it on??? Is this so???
Another thing I tried, was putting 12 volts from a rechrgeable drill battery across the 2 connections in the plug on the side of the motor, but I couldn't determine whether the wire led to the motor , as I couldn't reach the other end of the wire.
Any further help, or do I just "go for broke" , and order a new switch,AND resistor?
Cheers

My rear fan works independantly from the front one, you just have to turn it on in the back :? IE you dont have to have the front one turned on for the rear one to work, you just need the keys in the ignition

I wouldnt go and buy a new fan and resistor just yet, if theres no power going to the rear fan or resistor then its an electricle fault.

Have you taken out the 30A rear fan fuse under the bonnet in the large fuse box and cleaned the contacts :?:

Hi Waycar
Yes, I did pull the fuse, but it looked good and shiny, nevertheless, i'll repeat the job...it only takes seconds
Thanks
I'll keep you informed

sounds like a broken wire somewhere :? , if theres no power going to the rear fan or resistor then try wire the fan direct to the battery using a long wire, see if it starts up.

Hi again Waycar
Sounds like the best option. I can't see where the wires go into the fan, so I may have to take the whole "shabang" out. I'll keep you posted
Cheers
