Exhaust welding

Post by Lewy » Sun Sep 30, 2007 3:39 pm

Just as I posted the other day about only a couple of things going wrong - back box drops off.

On checking the mid section there is a hole in that too. The back box sheared where all the others have I guess - right at the juntion into the silencer - looks like it has been blowing there for a bit.

Money's bit of an issue at the moment and I've been given the number of a local geezer handy who's a good welder apparently and used to doing exhuasts - has anyone else welded up their exhaust -like we used to do in the old days? Or do people just buy new sections? I think I've read all the threads on this BTW and would love a new stainless unit but can't afford it at the moment.

Also where would I get some stainless flexi pipe 2 inch to make up a lenght to the end in case this drags out? Ta in advance - Lewy

Pity your not close by, as I have a complete system lying in the shed, from when I replace with stainless. It did cost  but being up here in the Highlands, a replacement can't be got locally or quickly, Which is no good when the vehicle is in use every day.

Worth checking out the thread below, re flexy pipe http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... hp?t=15081

I think Vanvliet said he had some spare flexi that someone could have for postage costs if needed?

Altys fine. We played La Rioja for the 1st time in 3 yrs and went down great, so looks like I've been dragged back into gigging again. How you settling into Totnes? :P

Totnes is brilliant - love it down here and hopefully saw a bloke who reckons he'll have a go at the exhaust too - so looking good hopefully!
