After my engine swap and subsequent coolant fill and bleed, I'm not happy with the behaviour of the cooling system.
I haven't put any antifreeze in yet...just water until I know I'm not going to have to drain it again.
1.From cold the temp gauge reaches normal position very quickly..5 mins or so. Once there though it is stable.
2. After a 13 mile drive to work, the bottom rad hose is hot...not too hot to touch though, but the top rad hose is hotter still.
3. I can't remember the last time the radiator fans cut in.......they work when I disconnect the connector at the block so the fans themselves and the motors are ok but maybe there is a fault in the switching mechanism?
4. Having a good feel of the rad after a 13 mile drive, looking from the front the top left corner is very hot......the bottom left is hot, the middle top and bottom is hot, but the top right is cold and the bottom right is only just warm. Logic tells me that if the top and bottom hoses are both hot...then the whole rad should be hot. Does this mean it's partially blocked? I Radflushed it about 10 months ago. Do I have to spend out on a new rad do you think?
I have reluctantly decided to change the thermostat, and the rad, and top rad hose which is looking swollen and tired. But I'd be annoyed if the above symptoms were caused by air in the system.....what do you think?
Hot hoses - blocked rad?

Rad Flush
Didn't I see on the Forum somewhere to clean out a radiator you blank the inlet and outlet and fill it with Coca-Cola and leave it overnight, worth a try I would say.
