manual blinds and radio clock

I've just bought a Ford Freda and I am slowly finding my way around it. Can anyone help with the following 2 questions

1. I have manual blinds and I'm finding it very fiddly to raise them - is there a trick to it?

2. The radio ahs a button marked clck which switches the led display to the clock, however I can't find a way to amend the time. If in clock mode I press the tuner bar it switches to tuning without changing the clock. I would expect a button to first change the hours and then the minutes. Can anyone help please?

Hi Ronhud... Welcome to the forum

As far as i'm aware there isnt really a technique to the opening, or closure of the manual blinds...The mechanism differs slightly from the electric versions, insofar as they have a ratchet type mechanism, so the blinds will "hold" in a desired position.

It will soon become second nature to find the correct procedure that works for you.

With regards to the stereo, i'm assuming that you have the original mazda unit?

Some people fit a band expanders to enable them to pick up desired radio stations, the common consensus seems to be to bin the original stereo,and pick up a cheap new replacement via the internet mail order outlets.

You can pick up a pretty decent head unit for less than £50 in some cases!

These of course are guaranteed, and come with full fitting and user instructions... sorry i cant be specific on how to actually reset the time on the clock, im not sure if any forum members still have the original radio?

On ours, the trick is stopping them flying up at the slightest thing. They are spring loaded so one you have released them from the bottom stop they retract 'just like that'. Easier to do than say, but pull the tabs towards you a bit - and up they go

One of mine does that! At the slightest provocation it just retracts - did it this afternoon whilst I was changing from shorts to pants (been a nice weekend in the Yorkshire Dales, but cooler this afternoon! I don't think anyone saw me!) just 'cos the dog's tail wagged against it

I'm going to see if the ratchet thingy needs 'sharpening up' if you see what I mean... maybe it's become a little too rounded off with age - it's only plastic after all.

Just hold the clock button down till the display flashes then use tune buttons

From Manual instructions:- Type A
Turn on radio
Press 'clk' button for more than 3 secs.
Time display will flash
Use 'tune' button to change time. Press 'up' to change hours & 'down' button for the minutes
Press 'clk' button to set.

Type B (We have type A)
Press clock button for 1.5 secs.
Time display will flash
Use 'select' button to change time
As above

hello ronhud we have manual blinds [my only disapointment] I find jiggling from side to side does it for me!

The springs can fail so if yours doesn,t retract easily I guess the spring is unclipped.
