Maybe a very stupid question. Engine warm up switch

Does anyone know what the switch does that has a picture of the engine? It's on the right hand side of the dash next to the rear heater switch. I have a manual but my Japanese is very poor :D

It's to help warm up in very cool weather, if you have
the org exust it closes a valve in it and speeds up the
tick over, it's not needed in the UK
