Right Result!! Heater blower resistor

Post by Will Slatcher » Wed Sep 12, 2007 6:44 pm

Today i finnally got round to fixing the blower on our bongo. After trawlling through the forums section and factsheets I managed to piece together a fairly good elimination process to decifer what the problem was.

I firstly looked at the heater resistor pack. This was missing so headed down to a bongo dealer near us where they had a bongo for breaking. I had a look at this thing that had absoultely nothing left on it, but to my amazement the heater resistor was still in there.

I then installed the new/old part but still the blower did not work.

So then i set at work and started stripping down the air intake to find the heater fan, this was jammed, but i gave it a good turn and it freed up straight away. So i thought, its gotta work now. Tried the heater but still nothing came through.

I then looked at the resistor again and could see that one of the soldered parts has come apart, so bodged the soldering with a hot knife and reconnected the resistor.

I then tried the heater again, to my amazement the bloody thing almost blew me down. It Worked!

Right Result!!!

Excellent

Now make sure te windscreen gutter drain is unblocked (and stays unblocked) as this is said to cause the problem, when water overflows onto the heater motor.
