Help! Leaking Oil!

Post by dovestar » Mon Sep 10, 2007 2:36 pm

While checking my hoses I found what looks like fresh oil leaking from one side on the engine. The following photo is from the front half of the driver's side of the engine.

I know it's hard to see.

The engine above this point and the passenger side is completely clean.

Can anyone advise on what might cause oil to leak from this part of the engine? We've not had the thing a week yet!

That's a relief. I'll be keeping an eye on it mind you because there's a lot more oil there than you can see in the picture.

Fair enough, but it's amazing how far a teaspoonful of hot oil can spread - just keep an eye on the level to make sure it's not getting worse.

Dovestar

My engine has been leaking in the same area since i bought it. Nearly three years ago. It looks worse than it is and i suspect is simply a small leak to an oil seal between head and block.

Hope this allays your fears.
