Remote Central Locking

Post by David Edwards » Sat Sep 08, 2007 2:14 pm

Just thought I would share a good buy, my son just bought a Universal "remote" keyless central locking kit from e bay for £12.98, with postage total £24.97, it comes with everything needed for four doors and also two contollers, item no. was 230165672563. It reckons it is universal, he has an astra estate but cant see why it wont work on the bongo. Worth a look at that price eh. Happy motoring.

Has anyone upgraded their bongo central locking to remote? I'd like to give this a bash but wondered if its been done before and therefore how difficult is it?

Just fitted an Alarm, remote locking and Remote start to mine today.

Remote locking is not a bad job but you will have to fix a slave motor in the drivers door.

I can strip mine back down and take pics if people are interested.

It will pretty much consist of a black box that will have a permenant live and an earth, and two lock wires, on lock and one unlock, these will attach to the two wires on the slave motor in drivers door.

The alarm with all the toys has taken me about 3 hours and I have fitted Thatcham alarms for many years now and know my way around them, just remote locking should be around an hour to fit.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Regards
Dave

Well funny thing I forgot, there are kits on there too to convert our manual central locking to keyless auto, they were around £12.00 as well, I was thinking about it, will have to have another look. Had some quotes re fitting the central to my sons car, all around £25.00 per door. will wait till my bro in law comes home from germany next week and he fits it.

sure there`s a fact sheet in the members area that covers remote central locking ??

easy enough to do kits cost about £20 including the actuators
put actuator in the drivers door just under the manual push lock
all the other locks already have them
this is the only area i differed from the fact sheet
wire the control box in, all electrics in the drivers door already tidy away the control box in the door well

easy peasy remote locking

Yes, after I saw yours I bought a kit from Ebay and in no time at all (well, a couple of hours including coffee breaks!) I now have remote central locking - and it's great 8)

I got Item Number 230150757380 - it's only a 2 door kit, but you'll only need one of the actuators to make a Bongo/Freda go remote.

i think all the kits are near enough the same
and within a couple of quid of each other

as ole dp says you only need one of the actuators and that in turn operates the unlock/lock mechanism of the drivers door
which then operates the rest of the locks

Remote central locking

Post by The wheelybins » Sun Sep 09, 2007 8:27 pm

Hi all just got back from Looe, our first bongo meet we had great time and we met some really nice people !
I am thinking of fitting of remote central locking and I have been looking at the hawk security kit this seems to include all you need to fit it, so reading you other posts do I definitely need an additional motor? Also is there an easy way to access fact sheets coz I dont seem to be able to find them, many thanks Russ

You need to be a Member of BongoFury to access fact sheets.

Have you paid your tenner to Ian?
