I bought one of the 99 euro ones and it is the proper Waeco device and it works superbly. It is a very comprehensive kit and seems quite high quality. I am tempted to get another couple to put on the shelf because I cant see me wanting to drive without one again.

Well I am still looking for the 99 euro units but no joy so far, more or less decided to get one now. Fitting will have to be done for me though, anyone know roughly what the charges are. Happy motoring

Now I am wondering if anyone here has bought one off her and is it the real thing or not, hate for problems to develop. Still think I want one so I will keep looking. Happy motoring.
My device came professionally boxed with a multi-lingual manual. Everything was in pristine condition and the workings marked with Waeco branding. It seems to be very high quality and if it is a copy, some one has gone to a great deal of trouble. I really hope that you have been given wrong info.

I will try and purchase another one for our second car as it makes such a difference for me.

Well peeps looks like I am in luck, I went on evil bay and put in the number quoted on an earlier page and although it came up sold it gave me the option of asking the vendor a question..so I asked if there were any more for sale at 99 euros and was pleased to get a reply saying yes,no probs total including posting was 117.5 euros which equates to £79.40, not bad eh. Paid via paypal now.. does anyone know roughly what the cost would be for fitting.

Apart from the sheer convenience of cruise control, i have decided to follow the info on this excellent thread, and am going to order one of the waeco devices.

Has anyone tried to hold a bongo at a steady 50mph? They definitely want to "creep" to at least 56mph if you dont persistently check the speedo

Seeing as most mototrway contraflow systems have a strict 40 -50 mph limit,i consider the sum asked for the waeco system paltry compared to the expense of paying the fines from all the cameras that these contraflows now possess...I wont have to keep checking the speedo for exact speed either, i'll be able to keep my eyes on the road...

Works for me

The guy that checked mine estimated that his installation charge would be £70 +VAT for 2 hours.

If you are thinking of installing yourself, I would suggest that you ask a few qualified auto electricians to quote for installing it (their receipt should satisfy the insurance company) and a separate quote for checking one that you have installed (& producing a letter that you can send to your insurance co. to say that it has been done correctly) and see whether the difference in price influences you much.

No I am not going to try and install it I will have it done by an auto electrician, just wondering where to fit the control tho. I have the original item number off e bay re the waeco unit if anyone wants it to e mail em like I did. Happy motoring.
Simon, any more pics on where you mounted the control, would help me a lot in deciding, cheers.

I installed mine to the LHS of the steering wheel, having removed the three switch blanks which are above the electric blind controls. I cut some plastic to the shape of the space and used strong sticky pads to hold it in place.

I eventually put mine on the left hand side of the steering column. You can't see them when driving but they fall to hand nicely and are very easy to operate on the move.

Yea was thinking of that spot but simon seemed to have the control in some sort of holder and wondered where it was eventually put. Will have a good luck, just been e mailed that the unit is on its way. Happy motoring

Has anybody tried flush fitting one into the steering wheel somehow?

Or would that be impossible because of the horn?

Obviously that doesn't apply to bongo's with airbags fitted...

Can't do that - the wires would get in the way when turning and could snag / snap :( .

Can't put it on the steering column if it means that you would have to put your hand through the steering wheel.

I'd realized that M&jb, but there are some innovative types on here,i'm sure if there was some way of doing it,they would keep it hush hush, then show it off at the big bash!

I think you can buy a stalk as an optional extra. I find the column so easy to get to it's not worth the fuss. I was going to put it near the gear lever as my hand seems to sit there but I couldn't find a nice place to stick it.
