Sensor query
Been having bother with the bongo. whats happening is when i first start it up and try and drive, it doesnt seem to want to change out of first for a good ten to fifteen minutes, then seems to work fine.It also goes ok if i leave it running for ten to fifteen minutes before i get in it. I have had a word with an autobox mechanic and he said it sounds like the engine temp sensor, does anyone know if this sounds about right and wether or not this is easy to change.

Doesn't sound right to me. I thought the sensor only stopped the torque converter locking up before the correct temperature had been reached.
A lot of problems seem to arise because of the fluid (ATF) - do you know when it was last changed, and is the level correct?

You could try measuring the reading from the gearbox temp sensor to make sure it's operating in tolerance. Not quite sure how you'd relate the fluid temp to the voltage reading you'd take though. I'm at work so I haven't got my manual to hand but if I remember I'll post the reference values later.
I don't know what role the sensor plays in the gearbox operation though so I may be barking up the wrong tree.
It would very interesting to know what logic the ecu uses to operate the gearbox and how the feedback system works. Anyone?
