Hold button flashing!

Post by acnels » Tue Aug 28, 2007 6:46 pm

When travelling long distances, i.e. couple of hours, the hold button light on the dashboard flashes and/or the gears are stuck in 3rd/jumps out of 4th into 3rd. However the next day when rested for a day or so it seems to be working again ok. Does anyone have a similar or problem or know how to fix it?

No problems with speedo it works fine but has been changed to MPH rather than KPH

If it has been changed by putting a little box of tricks at the back of it then try disconnecting that. They often give problems and are a waste of time. I find the only reliable way to convert is to stick a new dial on the face or get a set of Mazda 626 clocks.

But that doesn't account for the problem with the gears. More like the hold light is in fact reporting a fault. The error code can be read by correlating the long and short intervals between the flashes, which repeat in a cycle, against the error codes as listed in the members area.

Many autobox problems stem from old ATF. I would be inclined to change it and clean the filter before looking any further.
