Bleed Pipe

Without having to get out my Bongo Bible :lol: I realise the bleed pipe is near to the Alternator, is it under the passenger seat? :? if so ,would i be able to check it out with a torch :? and also where would i be looking :?

flip the seat look down to the left you will see the alternator above that you will see a pipe from the engine that curves round to the side door ,thats the bleed pipe, make sure its not touching the alternator ,use a bit of hosepipe cut lengthways and tie the pipe up

not much to pick at im afraid braindead after doing my egr today. :shock: up to yesterday i only knew where the diesel went. :lol:

After spending the afternoon in DBO's engine bay I decided to check the coolant bleed pipe.

:o :shock: :shock: :( Lucky escape :!:

There is a zip tie on a bundle of cables that is rapidly eating its way through the pipe.

The pipe is now protected by a piece of hose.

Should it be replaced as a precaution though?

i think if you replace the hose you will have to bleed the system afterwards, you could buy a pipe just in case.and in the meantime keep an eye on the original pipe when you check your oil. as you have seen on my bongo i also have fitted the engine coolant alarm for extra piece of mind.

On mine the bleed pipe is over the electrical cables. I would say on yours it has been trap underneath. I would think that it would be safer and easier to bleed the coolant if it is changed. I am no expert but it makes sense to me.

Sorted my bleed pipe out no probs, slight clearance between alt & pipe (good news) :D . Just as a precaution i've used a tie wrap. Another job sorted :wink: Thanks guys =D>

I really MUST look at mine! I could do with tying a knot in the bleed pipe to remind me! :lol:

Snow-kiter...did you pick up on Manny's comment about the routing of the pipe.

It should come over the top of the cables...NOT under them....trouble waiting to happen.

The bleed pipe should then come up and forward to a clip on the underside of the engine bay cowling and eventually end up by the passenger door.

But then - at the risk of stating the obvious - make sure the cables don't fall victim to rubbing. Some kind of (sacrificial) outer sleeve over both of them might be a good investment.

Must have been a Friday afternoon build :o

The pipe does appear to be clipped into the bit under the door though. Might try and re-route it if it won't require disconnection.
