In line fuel filter

Where is the in line fuel filter? I have traced the pipe from the large filter to a metal pipe and disconnected it but no filter to be found either way, just a small amount of diesel. The metal pipe is connected at the other end (to the pump?) with a 17mm bolt. Is it under there?
