OOH ERR mucky belts
Have had our Bongo for just over one month, and was slowly being driven mad by what I can only describe as a metalic rustling noise from under the bonnet. Not a belt slip screech but certainly similar. Removed the alternator and could find no evidence of bearing wear in it, or the water pump. My Bongo does'nt have an undertray and I wondered if the belts had become grimey. Cleaned them and the pulleys with 'Cillitt Bang'. Put everything back and yippee, a MUCH quieter Bongo. Aren't these diesel engines noisey though. Now where did I put my tool box!

hello maxandpaddy love my bongo but thought i might hear my new stereo system better if I could reduce engine noise. Bought a noise killer custom made Kit which was very effective. Then thought there was even more scope for improvement so bought more stick on soundproofing and putting it everywhere ,in panels around engine bay under carpets etc.Havnt finished yet but bongo sounds sweet.

Noise is a problem so would be interested in where you obtained your noise reduction kit.

Great idea petebee, I think I will do that also, seeing as you say it really makes a difference. For anyone who needs the stuff, check out http://www.frost.co.uk
got my standard kit from http://www.noisekiller.co.uk/ then bought some extra bits to cover more of the inside and outside of the engine bay. Also bought a roll of self adhesive builders flashing [slightly damaged half price!] used this as extra in the door panels to prevent drumming and as much as possible under the dashboard. Also removed the panels adjacent to the footwells and treated them.just back, sliding and rear door to do!
am enjoying the music petebee.
