Correct pressure for 16 215 and 225s?

Post by surfnut » Fri Aug 17, 2007 3:06 pm

Hi My Bongo hsa 215/55Z R16s on the front and 225/55 R16 94V on the back. The only tyre pressures shown in the handbook or the car door arch are for 15s. Can anyone please tell me the correct pressures for my 16s? Thanks, Surfnut

This is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions. There is no set pressure because they're not the standard tyres. You'll need to experiment to see what feels right - I would suggest 34psi front and 36psi rear and see if they look flat, and also how it handles. I have 204/65x15s all round and have used those pressures, but now use 36psi all round.

Thanks John. I`ll try that. One further question tho, the van feels very light, too light to be frank, and at the moment the tyres are around 30 front and back. If I inflate them more, won`t that make the steering.handling lighter still? Thanks. Surfnut

After experimenting - I run ours at 36F 40R.

215/65 x 15 100H Yokohamas max pressure (for US regs) = 50 psi
