Electric Window Problem

Post by Bertie Bus » Sat Aug 11, 2007 9:16 pm

Our electric windows started to play up on both sides, so we replaced the switch with a new one, a few weeks ago. They then worked fine, but have now stopped working on the drivers side and only the passenger side now works. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Usual problem is a broken wire in the loom between door and pillar.

Aternative to that - mine was playing up - took off door panel for a look see & waxoil, motor was extremely hot. there was no lubrication on the window mechanism, so I squirted some lithium grease on all the sliding & rolling bits, hoping that is gonna help, seems to so far.
Just need to replace the drivers side rocker switch now, operating it with a cocktail stick at the moment :( If anyone has a non working switch going spare I could cannibalise?
Drivers switch wasn't operating passenger window, problem was with the switch contacts for the on/off switch at the back, needed a good scrape, all ok now 8)
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
