That sounds more expensive and complicated than carrying my DAB to the Bongo whenever I go out. Along with a ton of other stuff I seem to
need just for a day out.
I am beginning to know what people with children must feel like when going out for the day

Sorry Mike - forgot to reply to your post...................I wedged the top of the invertor to the dashboard with a block of dense foam.

Here's an idea: I've just come across a few 650watt UPS's from work which are being chucked out as the 12v batteries are knackered. My idea is to use one as an invertor which should give a nice clean output which would obviously be suitable for a PC. The only down side is that they would normally only run for 30 mins or so until the backup battery went flat, but with the addition of a small fan, I can't see any reason why this would not run much longer.
Any thoughts?

My cheapo 150W inverter runs my laptop ok from the cigar lighter.
It has to, as my laptop battery now has a life of about 2 minutes

I have an HP laptop with a 3.5a demand, will a 150w inverter power this? This is the most power I will require and I could use it for phone and camera battery charging too when not on the laptop?

My wife has questioned my sanity (again) asking why I want to take a laptop on holiday!

She has a point so I will be going without and enjoying two weeks free of the web!

wired my 150w invertor that i got from makro to the passanger footwell as there is a 8 mm stud that it can be bolted onto and i split my leisure battery feed in two so i have a tripple DC socket and the other goes to the invertor, i always use my laptop on the invertor and there has never been any problem, the DC side i power my 10.2 lcd dvb tv through it and they both last for a good few days before i charge the battery,
