Switch question - go on, have a giggle
I've a newly bought Bongo and there's a switch on the dash that I can't work out. I dont think it's an original, but it has been professionally fitted. It has a rubber grommet securing it in the hole in the dash.
This switch is to the left of the rear heater/fan on/off. The switch is round and red, about 1cm diameter. It looks like it might be one that should light up when operated but it doesn't.
My 1st thought was maybe a manual switch for the engine cooling fan, assuming that is electrically operated. Well I 've tried it and that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact it doesn't seem to do anything.
In the rear cabin, Just above the rear cabin heater/fan switches on the OS of the middle row is a similar looking green light set into the side panel trim. It's the same diameter and with a similar grommet to the one in the front. The two look so alike I wonder if they're connected. The green light has, thus far, never come on.
Any ideas??
Its going back to the dealer this week for a few snags to be sorted so I'll ask them too.
Thanks

Green Light
The green light above the rear heater controls will light up when you put your side/headlights on - its to illuminate the controls for the rear passengers.
The new switch could be for anything that is
a) New
B) A replacement for a kn****red switch.
a) Should be obvious.
b) You need to use all the existing switches and see if they work as required, if any do not work then see if the 'new' switch operates it instead.
It could even be an over-ride switch for the 'glow plugs' which some people have fitted - if it is this then if it is an illuminated switch it will only come on when the glow plugs are on.
Hope you trace it, have fun and be sure to let us all know what it was for.

Thanks Jimsmimm for pointing out the blindingly obvious. Of course its the fog light.
Boy do I feel dumb now. In my defence, I'd never tried it with the headlights on and had forgotten that the rear fog switch would, of course, be a recent fitment.
Mods: Please could you delete thread as my own stupidity embarasses me?
