now then, the search function seems to be on a tea-break, so just a few questions.
remembering previous posts, the sensor is in the drivers side? i think i need to test it.
is the fan is the one visible from under either seat, perched low at a slight angle?
should it be firing up as i switch on, or only when it gets a bit toasty below?
how hot will my handbrake area be it it's not working? i have noticed pleasant warmth coming from there and the "elbow-box" kind of like a sausage roll warmer!)
thanks bongineers!

hes the fan is between the front of the engine low down.
if you look on the central cover on the drivers side about parrallel with the handbrake you will find a plug which goes into the sensor for the engine bay temperature. you will also feel the sensor underneath the cowel like a black plastic pointy thing.
remove the plug and short it out with a bit of wire or paper clip, turn on ignition and the fan should kick in. if memory serves me well it will run till you turn off.
you will be hard pushed to hear the fan kick in when running, however in warm days and hard running after you switch off the engine after a few minutes turn on the ignition and it may fire up.
our handbrake runs slightly warm after running 70mph for 300 miles or so, the fan would be used more in stationary traffic when there isnt much of an airflow getting to the engine.
if the fan kicks in when you test it i wouldnt worry too much.
hope this helps

To hear if its working, after a good run and engine up to temp, stop and turn engine off, after a minute start engine back up again on turning the key You should hear the scavenger fan if not it needs looking at.
