So, that makes you two-faced!

I assume you mean that the pointer longer moves?

Does it try to move at all?

Have you disturbed the electrical connections on the back?

Have you put the needle the wrong side of the stop pin? Also worth checking that you have replaced the rear connections in the right ports.

In the long term - - check out your local scrapyards and pick up a Mazda 626 MPH speedo and perspex instrument cover ( hole for trip is bigger) for about £10 -£15 .Slots straight in without mods other than altering mileage .
I fitted one a couple of weeks ago after seeing a tip on the website - took me half an hour.
Free MPH /KPH speedo face anyone?

Your right Vanilet, our bongo has travelled 500 miles since 626 speedo was fitted, very accurate, and the problem with the hold flashing randomly has been cured

Recently travelled from from St Andrews to Padstow and back - worked fine. I had the 'hold ' problem too , just after fitting ,but retightening the mounting screws did the trick .
Has to be one of the best mods on the Forum

just a quick question on resetting the mileage on a set of 626 clocks, can it be done with ease ? & wiil the numbers all line up afterwards & not look like they have been clocked like some dodgy car dealer has had a fiddle with them, lee

Bongomaan,
Try this link it may help.

http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ght=#86319

It really is a piece of cake to fit a 626 or MX6 speedo.

bongomaan,

I have found this on a Pajero owners club site, it may be of help I don't know.

"here's a tip for putting the needles back on

take a pic of dials while engine is idling
or draw a pic showing where they sit @ idle

put the new dials on, but not the needles
connect the dials without the clear lens on, and let the engine idle

lightly put the needles on (compare to your pic)
then disconnect the console,
push the needles on properly, and finish rebuilding the console"
Keep the Faith
