Heavy earth strap gratefully received today, thanks Waycar8. Fitted to Bongo, then starter battery recharged and Bongo taken for a run. Now the waiting begins to see if my starter battery at long last stops loosing its charge. Watch this space.

Waycar8 .. where do you get such a kit ? .. is it cost effective compared to buying components individually ?
cheers Dave

Hi izzim,
Madmile makes up Leisure Battery harnesses and sells them on ebay, I've been asking his advice recently, so is a good source.

I wasn't sure how to deal with a winter battery set up compared to starting from scratch, but they are essentailly similar apart from a wire or 2.

Hope this helps

thanks for the replu - um .. i meant the kit with the leccy components; the relay, fuze boxes, earth strap etc - as in waycar8's pic .. not the battery harness, im going to weld one of them up myself
not sure what you mean 'winter battery'

izzizm,
Sorry, may have got definitions muddled...
Do you mean battery support tray by harness? If so, that's not what I was meaning!

Madmile does make up a wiring set with relay fuses etc. I've seen them on ebay @ £60, but he doesn't seem to have one listed right now.

Can't find them just now, but there are a couple of good recent threads about Leisure Battery wiring.

Some Bongos (can PM you a pic if you like) that live 'Up North' in Japan, come with 2 batteries wired in parallel to give double the current for cold starting in the winter.

Hope this makes more sense today! :)

i understand you now :) ... ive been following the threads about the leisure battery fitting .. im hoping to do the whole thing for £100 tops - weld up battery tray- buy all components online etc .. although i'm sure ill be asking Madmile for some tips too :)
ill let you know how i get on !
cheers

hi izzizm, i purchased the kit inc 180 amp vsr relay off willington on ebay, for £65 inc delivery, hes the guy that makes the grp battery trays for the bongo on ebay.

it took me five minutes to wire it up to the batteries then another 5 to wire it through into the fuse box. he sends fitting instructions too :D
