Flooding question

Post by NicknLiz » Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:27 pm

With all this flooding that's been going on I just realised that I don't know how deep water I can drive through... Whereabouts is the air intake thingy?

Cheers

Above the radiator, do you drive in floods that deep?

Air Intake

The air intake thingy is just under the bonnet level with the top of the grill, about 1.5mtrs high but I wouldn't like to go quite that deep in floods.

The charge air cooler thingy is just below the front bumper so you could fill this with water, wouldn't do much harm unless you hit the water at a great speed then you may do some damage.

You might find that once the exhaust is blocked the engine will cut out though, which is why most off roaders have the exhaust diverted upwards. Not that I have tried it.

Cheers guys, hoping never to have to find out, but the only way into my village (not the gay...) involved driving through about a foot deep of fast running water coming off the fields...

No way of turning around and thought it'd be fine, but I had that nasty "Hmmm... What if it were a bit deeper..."
