noisy wheel

Post by sean_b » Sun Jul 08, 2007 5:24 pm

hi, quick question regarding my bongo drivers side front wheel.
getting a squeaking noise, not always, sometimes stops under braking.
the alloy is extremely hot after any kind of driving, the rest are not hot @ all. recently lost the centre nut cap thing, no idea how it came out. might be due to the problem. alloy is very dirty with brake dust.
changed pads 8-10 months ago.

any ideas?

cheers sean

hi sean
have you recently driven through road works or gravel etc
it could be a small stone between your disc and pad. (worth a look)

Definitely sounds like brakes are binding on that wheel - remove pads and put some Coppaslip on the ends of them.

You could also look to see if the piston in the brake caliper is all the way in. I've had similar symptoms (not on my bongo) that turned out to be a partly seized caliper (i.e., the piston was not returning all the way when I took my foot off the brakes).
