More seriously, I have only today heard of a member of the forum with a 2.0 petrol, Powerslide from Cyprus.

Niel of the fabulous home conversion also has an Aero, but I think it may be a 2.5 V6.

Got me worried, just popped out, got out the hand book and eventually found the spark plugs!! Well, 3 anyway :? ...........I guess the 3 on the other side will make it a V6 then 8) 8) 8)
Love the drive, and as for the fuel consumption, I have taken mikeonb4c's advice and not joined a golf club :lol:

Just to get my muddled head unmuddled, its a V6 then powerslide?
I have taken mikeonb4c's advice and not joined a golf club
..great to see someone notices these whacky anecdotes. Its true though isnt it!!! A V6 Bongo would give me MUCH more pleasure than an expensive golf club membership + there'd be enough left over to buy a kite, or surfboard, or cheap dinghy etc. = result!

...only I'm too old and knackered for most of those options

Not sure exactly about the economy at present but I get the impression that it's about 25mpg though I haven't done any calculations. You can drive the vehicle very lazily or have a bit of fun by making the Auto kick down. On a trip from Christchurch to North Devon, touring round a little and back I only filled up once whilst away. Probably around £50 used I think.

I will do some serious calculations at some point but the economy is not horrendous so I'm just enjoying driving it at the moment.

We got a Movelite XL awning and after I have completed acouple of extra tweeks, adding drawers, food prep' table and soalr panel we should be good to go for the Alps.

As the op mentioned touring in Europe, just thought you might like to know current fuel prices in France, I am currently paying 1.05 euros per litre for diesel,1.29 unleaded and 64 euro cents per litre for lpg, which incidentally is called gpl here, just to confuse you!!
This is best supermarket prices, Autoroute prices are considerably higher.

I've converted my V6 to LPG and its currently costing 10p per mile. I think that equates to roughly 50 mpg. the range is 240 miles and if i should run out it switches to petrol without missing a beat. Gas is available evrywhere now. I save £70 per month if I only do 12000 mile per year. The cost of the installation equates £34 per month on a credit card. I save on car tax and insurance and servicing too. I can drive in London without paying a tax on pollution and may get a dispensation on the congestion charge too. I can't think of a good excuse not convert to LPG.

Finally did some calculations having got back from a 2 week trip to the Alps.
Did 1964 Miles and driving varied from Autoroutes at 80mph to mountain roads. The figures come to almost exactly 25mpg.
I am perfectly happy with this as it is only afew mpg lower than the diesel and is extremely quiet and comfy at speed. The mountain roads were a doddle and, and...and

....I cam back loving my Bongo even more.

Do the V6's suffer from the cooling system problems of the Diesel? Are the there more or fewer pipes in the petrol set up?

Interesting stuff Blodstaxi and Bongo Virgin. If I had the £ I'd love a nice smart V6, with LPG conversion I think. As it is, I can only dream (I'm whispering this so Mango Bongo doesn't hear - don't want to upset her). 8)

:idea: well mikeonb4c, I'm starting to dream of a new shape Bongo with metallic paint with a V6 LPG so if you ever get closer to your dream you might also help me realise mine. I'm not sure what the cost of moving my conversion from one van to another is so I'll probably sell it with the kit on. Presently van & kit owe me £6250. Regardless of this if you ever want to try one out I'm sure we can get together at a Bongo meeting and you can take mine for a spin.
