Re: Group 2 car seat - what kind you you have?
Thanks Doune for your reply. I never thought of looking for a Facebook group so that's a great idea and I've requested to join now and will pose the question there too. My daughter is nearly 5 so it would be the group 2 high back booster we need. When your Gracown Milestone is forward facing in high...

Group 2 car seat - what kind you you have?
Hi, I'm hoping any parents out there can advise on a group 2 child seat (18kg+ / age 4+) on the market just now that doesn't have the buckle crunch issue please? I don't want to go down the route of shortening the seatbelts or wrapping them round the bar as we don't want to risk compromising on safe...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
Thanks Tertiary, but I was never intending to tow without taking the course, as I said in my post. We have never towed before and fully see the benefit of the training; we wouldnt feel confident or safe doing it otherwise - it would be irresponsible and I completely agree with you. My question was a...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
Thanks for the tips guys. I'll discuss the scotchlocks before I book Bongo in for towbar fitting. Damp - Getcarter - Ouch! That was an expensive fix! If the damp isnt readily obvious by marks or smell, are there any other tell tale signs I should look out for? A few people have reccomended t...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
And from my experience, make it clear you don't want scotchloks used for tapping into the vehicle wiring harnesd. Sooner or later they're bad news for wiring [-X :?: :?: :-k Thanks Mike, scotchloks...? Is this for the wiring for the towbar? Sorry I'm totally knowledge free when it comes to the tech...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
That is extremely helpful Bob, thanks very much for that!
So if we didnt do the test we'd be sailing a bit too close to the wind perhaps....depending on the caravan we got of course.
Thanks again.

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
Thanks guys! Thats all really helpful. I have another question for all you knowledgeable folks....: :-k We passed our drivng test after 1997 so the gov.uk website states we can "tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg&qu...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
Done now (Edinburgh), thanks Bob. Another couple of quick questions- - MOT is due on the Bongo this week. While it's in the garage anyway, I was wondering if there's anything specific I should be asking the mechanic to take an extra look at to make sure alls okay for towing e.g. gearbox?? (Can you t...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
This article seems to suggest the same - http://www.caravantalk.co.uk/caravan-advice/towing/measure-a-caravans-nose-weight "A 1200kg laden caravan with a 7% nose weight of 84kg would need a car that could support a weight of 100kg or more, such as a large saloon or a medium 4x4." Sorry if ...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
The article states - "In the braking example, we decided that towing slightly nose down was the best option, and we discovered that under braking forces, the caravan imparted a downward force on the rear of the vehicle, well this will increase the nose weight and if you are loaded to the maximu...

Re: Caravan Towing Questions
Hi, thanks for the replies. I think I'm even more confused about noseweight now though. I don't understand how you're able to tow such a heavy weight safely if the max nose weight is 85kg and this should be 7% of Max laden weight- would this not suggest the max laden weight should be no more than 12...

middle swivel seats - north star conversions
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this conversion company and these swivel seats? http://www.northstarconversions.co.uk/8.html It seems like the perfect solution to have seats facing forward for driving safely with children in car seats, then just swivel them round when parked up...
