Yes that's the area that has oil around ! My mechanic says oil shouldn't be in there it's the transfer case .
He is going to take a look at it 19th of August while he is doing the coolant brake fluid and diff oils

If the transmission oil level is too high on the dipstick can this cause leakage anywhere or damage other components, as I vaguely remember it looking quite high... That's where it's looking the wettest but it is the lowest point. Hope it's not a big job ! My local Mazda dealer probably has never ...

It's wet around part number 16-145 it's called a rubber seal but it's like a bung with a flexible nipple on it.......and around that it's like a sponge material that's where all the oil seems to be ! Anyone have any idea if it's the gearbox seal I can't seem to post a picture his do you do it folks

Many thanks for the excellent pics i did manage to work it out in the end, its best to twist them out prior to removing the electric connection it gives you more leverage.
