Re: Difficulty starting in wet/cold
Thanks guys, multimeter says I have one potentially working glowplug, which i'm guessing is less than ideal
so first up is a new set of those.

Re: Difficulty starting in wet/cold
Thanks - I checked the water level and there isnt any significant loss (I have one of the special edition(!) opaque header tanks so its tricky to gauge an exact level).
Is there an easy way of checking the glow plugs, the 'starting problems' factsheet doesnt appear to be available at the moment ...

Difficulty starting in wet/cold
Hi,
We've noticed over the last couple of weeks, with the onset of cold/wet weather, that our '95 2.5l diesel Bongo is having trouble starting in the mornings after a few days of not being run. When it fails to start I can hear a bubbling from the coolant header tank, but I'm not sure if this is ...

Re: Heater fan problem
Thanks, its got climate control. Found the fact sheet for replacing the transistor - fan only working on Max, but much better blow from it after cleaning the bearings and the evaporator. New transistor ordered.
I also managed to shear one of the captive bolts holding on the main heater body, and ...

Re: Heater fan problem
Thanks. Armature and commutator pads didnt look too bad, was mostly the bearing, bearing cover and the brush holder that were rusted, but i'll give it all a buff up.

Heater fan problem
Hi,
I noticed a burning smell and white smoke from the front heaters when trying to clear the windscreen this afternoon. I took the intake off and turned the fan by hand - quite stiff. I also noticed that the fan only moved itself when on Max. I've had a look here and found the FAQ which pointed to ...

Re: AFT or High Roof?
May be some insulation in the high roof. Just checked mine, and there is 40-50mm between the inner headlining and the outer skin. Obviously necessary for fitting the skylight in, and useful for fixing up cup hooks for a cargo net (can't vouch for strength though, or what the gap is actually filled ...

Re: Horn switch problem?
Well, had the top module off the steering wheel and it turns out that when the garage had re-assembled it after trying to find out why it wasn't working they had neglected to connect the switch wire back to the contact. Plugged it back in and horn now works from both buttons on the wheel =D ...

Re: AFT or High Roof?
I have neither a 3 yr old nor an AFT, but we do have a high-top roof. Off the top of my head there are a couple of options you could think about:
Cupboards on the back end of the high top, bed board over half of the gap, some retaining mechanism for child - child can then have their own sleeping ...

Re: green Bongo with green hardtop - fife
You're in Fife I see, have you had a look at the roofs that the guys in Dairsie will put on? They are drivelodge ones, we got one put on ours when we bought it. I appreciate it might not be the shape you are looking for though, it does look a bit silly at the back with the spoiler on as well ...

Re: Horn switch problem?
Had a furtle about and everything looks fine as far as I can tell without taking the rest of the covers off the wheel and steering column. There is some movement of the wheel covering around the non-working switch, so I'm wondering if it's been disturbed when the garage were trying to work out what ...

Re: Help: Front Headlight bulb replacement
It might help to do the nearside one first - I found there was more room there so you can see what you are doing, and use that to inform the blind fumblings on the offside...

Re: Horn switch problem?
Ok, found the main problem - the y/r wire to the relay connector had been spliced in the past, at the relay end before it joins the main loom, and the splice had corroded to the point that I had to take about 1" off the splice wire to get to clean wire. Cut back all the wires and rejoined, now have ...

Re: Horn switch problem?
Cheers,
Yes there is some LB wiring, and a lot of insulating tape about under the dash :) but I couldn't see anything near the y/r wire from the horn fuse before it disappears into the loom.
I'll start at the relay end and try to work back, as you say i think where the wire splits is a likely ...

Re: Horn switch problem?
Thanks Jaylee, I do have an airbag on the steering wheel.
Reading again what I wrote, and thinking about it logically, surely the live connection at the relay should be at +12V to earth, since that's what I read at the fuse box, and so the problem is a break in the live feed to the relay on the ...
