Re: Noise and lack of power

Thanks for the follow up Steve - You don't need much to get sidetracked onto cake.
Mrs Spenner is flattered by the attention/praise and has noted the hints Ady..... She has never knowingly laced my cakes with anything stronger than Vanilla essence but has been tempted once or twice (how much for ...

Re: Noise and lack of power

Thanks Ady - as usual top marks for the diagnosis!
The problem was the large diameter pipe way down at the front of the intercooler (lush diag part 13-550) had dislodged (jubilee clip had come undone).

Once connected and tightened there is no longer a noise and we are back to full power =D>

Noise and lack of power

Hi
I am experiencing a slight lack of power (going up hill) coupled with a whirring noise seeming to come from front passenger area below dashboard. When driving on flat and throttling back the noise disappears and van drives well. No overheating issues.
I have looked at the post regarding exhaust ...

Re: Alternator belt

Hi All
Thanks for all your contributions to this post. As the owner of said belts (and fingers holding belts in close up photos) It falls on me to report back and wind this strand up.
Having returned the belts for inspection to the supplier (and in the meantime re-fitting new belts purchased from ...

Re: Steel Seal

Just to round this topic off here are my final experiences with Steel Seal

After getting the confirmed test report that the head was scrap I decided to take Steel Seal at their word and claim a full refund as I had tried two bottles and both failed. Incidentally they have now changed the website ...

Re: Head removal

Just a quick follow up post for those that spotted my deliberate mistake - it is never really job done!
1 week on the road with no problems - changed the fuel and air filter, oil filter and change next week, and a coolant/temp alarm installed yesterday. Jobs done (for now  )

Re: Head removal

Hi All
Just thought I would round this one off with a summary pic.
It was a long hard job especially as I am not mechanically minded - but with someone who knows more about it and a manual, a lot of patience and the tremendous bank of knowldege on this site it can be done.
Good luck to all the other ...

Re: Head removal

Hi all
All back together. Took 5, 3 second cranks of the engine before fuel got through and it fired. What a great feeling. (not to mention relief)
Many thanks to all who helped verbally throughout (A BIG LIST)
All we have to do is bleed it now.

Re: Bongo shop cylinder head

I have spoken to the supplier directly and had all my queries answered for now - that said it is still not the package I thought - so the inconvenience factor is there - but they have provided good technical support after the order.
Thanks Steve et al for the input
Cheers
Jeff

Re: Head removal

Ian - I can only draw a comparison to U2's headline set - women falling at your feet, asking for a cheap price on a new head. I will call you on tuesday to discuss....
timmyt join me in a chorus - and you give yourself away - i can't live, with or without you....

Head removal

Got the head off and have a few queries if people can help?

1) Head Gasket - Is it supposed to be made up of 5 thin layers? see http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j447/spenner1/100_4235.jpg

2) Should the gasket block off some of the holes between the head and the block? Does anyone have a ...
