Recommend me an outdoor cover

There are plenty on EBay which reckon they fit a VW, but nothing Bongo specific, and I suspect quality is a bit of a minefield.

Has anyone bought an outdoor cover which fits their Bongo nicely and is made of decent stuff? I know there's one in the shop, but it's designed for a Vito, and maybe ...

Re: Keep blowing indicator fuses - why?

Thanks guys.

Fished a s/h flasher unit from a Bongo at the scrappies this morning, and all is now working again. I took the black cover off the bottom of the old one, and nothing's obviously burnt out or similar, but there you go.

I'd have gone for trailer electrics too, but they checked out fine ...

Re: Keep blowing indicator fuses - why?

Thanks.

So, it's the RH side which is blowing the fuse. LH works fine.

Also, on removal of the bulbs, my multimeter finds continuity between the centre + and the outer earth terminal of the holders - should this be?

No obvious issues, faults or problems with the bulb holders: all clean and ...

Re: Keep blowing indicator fuses - why?

Either side, as far as I can tell, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow for a definite answer. Certainly blows with either hazard switch or RH indicator stalk.

Keep blowing indicator fuses - why?

My Bongo indicators stopped working today. The flasher unit - grey box bottom right of driver's footwell - clicks fast, but no green dash lights, no indicator lights and no hazard lights.

Fuse nr 2 - top row, second from left, 10A - blows the moment either the indicator switch is activated or ...

Re: Excessive brake pedal travel?

Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years anyway, so now is probably a good a time as any. Not sure what sort of cars you'd want to adjust the rear drum to fix poor braking performance, but things have moved on since the days of the Ford Popular and the like :).

I'm showing my age a bit, there ...

Excessive brake pedal travel?

Well, another year, another triumphant MoT pass!

However, the advisories are getting a bit like War and Peace.

One of the 'issues' is quite a lot of pedal travel before the brakes bite. Normally I'd start by adjusting rear drums to sort this, but the Bongo has discs, and it doesn't seem like the ...

Re: Cruise control fitting - urgent help please!

Thanks folks - passed info to ADS.

No factsheet yet, and I think that would be really useful to do the job right, so prizes to anyone who can turn one up. ;)

Re: Cruise control fitting - urgent help please!

I use ADS for my Bongo servicing and although they have always delivered on what they have promised, I get the impression they are not auto electricians. Very interested to know how you get on as I want Cruise control but the insurance thing has always put me off.
Hope it all goes OK.

The auto ...

Can anyone PM me Simon Jones's cruise control instructions..

..please?

http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51120

I'm sitting at ADS needing some guidance on how to fit this, and Simon's not answering his messages, so I suspect he might be on holiday.

If you've got the instructions, please pm me and I'll send you my email address to ...

Cruise control fitting - urgent help please!

Bought a Waeco MS-50 cruise control for our '95 diesel auto Bongo.

Bongo is now at ADS Automotive in Bristol for fitting.

ADS have never fitted cruise before and seem to think it will take 4 - 5 hours! Are there any instructions I can give to them to help with this job? I get the impression from ...

Re: Had any rear arch work done yet?

1996 green AFT. No rust on either arch, but I looked at quite a few Bongos before I bought this one which were pretty ripe. Green ones seemed to be a bit less rusty, although maybe that's just my impression.

I bought our Bongo largely on the basis of no rust, as I can't stand rusty cars. Already ...

Re: Nasty pic of burned out switch - what now?

Check the old drivers door loom to make sure the mirror fold wires (2 of them for open & close) are not going to ground (shorting) due to a wire break somewhere near the bodywork first?? They may have even shorted on each-other!!?? This may have blown the fuse, but not before knackering ...

Re: Nasty pic of burned out switch - what now?

Thanks guys - that's great.

I've already found another switch: just wanted to make sure there wasn't a more sinister cause and that it was just a case of shorted out worn contacts on my old switch. :)

That was my theory too. ;)

I just wondered if there's anything else I should check before I just plug in a new switch.
