Re: Aircon idler pulley bearing

When I say scream I mean "not like a slipping fan belt" very definitely a more mechanical noise. I changed belts (alternator and aircon) 1500k ago and I "might" have over tensioned them which is why I strongly suspect the idler bearing.

Aircon idler pulley bearing

Screams like a banshee for first 15 seconds of start up. Then goes quiet. Pretty sure its the aircon pully bearing. Does anyone know the part number or dimensions of the bearing so I can get a new one first rather than strip it and then go get one?

ECU damage with disconnected battery

If I leave the batteries disconnected from the vehicle for quite a while (say 3 weeks) does that damage the ECU at all?

Just want to disconnect them because there is a small current drain somewhere that is flattening them and I can't be arsed to sort that out till it gets a bit warmer

Re: How deep can we go?

Have had another look at the air intake system and although the open end is high enough at the front it does drop down before it raises up to the air filter. A good inspection of this plastic piping might be advisable to check for splits and holes etc. If this is OK I reckon our bongos should get ...

How deep can we go?

With all the flooded water of the past few days I have been wondering how deep can we go in our Bongo's?

I went down one flooded lane and passed easily through 15 - 20 inches. The air intake is quite high in the front grill area so no probs there. How deep have others been?

:D

I did speak to the people who did the original conversion (I wont name names) who said it would it would be "very difficult" to remove his installation. Hmmmm.... A good idea though, I will have to think who to ring because I dont know any other converters.

Yes, thats a good idea, only thing is I dont know another bongo owner near me yet alone one who would be prepared to lift his carpets for me?

Any volunteers out there ?

A measurement in from the sliding door to the start of the cover and a measurement in from the tailgate would be ideal?

drop the tank?

We now have our new bongo, seems spot on and the only problem is the non-working fuel guage. From study of the forum the most likely culprit will be the sender. So up with the carperts and remove the inspection cover. Only problem is this Bongo has a side conversion installed which covers the access ...
