Re: Latest overheating problem

Thanks all, but if I had thought about it then the belts would have been the obvious choice, seems that is the issue so with luck a couple of new belts and a coolant bleed and bobs you uncle (unless in doing so the head has gone AGAIN but fingers crossed)

So then the next question would be what ...

Latest overheating problem

OK so this weeks bongo fault is, driving along and I hear a kind of clonk like perhaps I have just run over a plastic cup, then all of a sudden the Charge and Humidity light come on on the dash and the heating stops coming out hot, then the dreaded temp gauge starts to rise, so I pull over sharpish ...

Re: Gearbox not shifting properly

I bought my first Bongo from them. I shall not comment further on an open forum.

I am just down the road from you in Hailsham, just north of Eastbourne & would be happy to look at your Bongo for you - at least I will be able to confirm any gearbox issues or not. Mind you I would think you are not ...

Re: Gearbox not shifting properly

small diesel leak causing the turbo to not work correctly

Never heard that tale before from any others with (the usual) small leak from the diesel pump area. And if hte turbo wasn't working properly then you'd think you'd have to be down on power (but you aren't :? ).

Do these guys know their ...

Re: Gearbox not shifting properly

No the engine seems to have plenty of power, although you wouldn't know it as when you need it the gearbox kicks down so it all revs and no speed, I have spoken to the garage and the leak is from the fuel pump this is very minimal and require new seals so a non related issue.

I will look into the ...

Gearbox not shifting properly

Dear all,

I have recently been having issues with our auto gearbox shifting correctly, when cold it performs fine but once warmed up it will change but only at 4000+rpm or if you de-accelerate and then it lurches into the next gear, once in top gear and cruising it now tends to kick down on any ...

Re: The dreaded Head Gasket....

Cheers for that, I think the head had got a hair line fracture as when the gasket went last year, once repaired it would overheat with a thermistat fitted

The dreaded Head Gasket....

I have finally blown the head gasket on my Bongo, only a matter of time from all accounts and I think there is also a crack in the head, as it had only run without the thermistat for the last few years from the last time it overheated so looking to get both replaced this time.

Any advice from the ...

Hi Mike,

Thanks for finding that old thread, it saved me looking for it myself which I intended to do when I had time. I am quite happy for it to be used as a fact-sheet if it will help somebody.

This is the website for the suppliers; http://www.aes-gb.com

Colin.
