As far as I know bench seats are the same, and yes, easy to re-fit.

I've only removed the middle one as ours has flip up rears.
Thanks for the info, and one more question. Can flip up seats be fitted in lieu of the rear bench or do they mount totally differently?

Re: Need recommendation for strong trailer hitch

Thanks for the additional advice.

Very simple to remove bench seat.

Just pull off the 4 covers where it sits on the rails and undo the 4 bolts.

It will just lift out leaving the runners, slide these to the front. Bear in mind the seat is HEAVY.

Cheers.
Does the middle seat remove in the same ...

Re: Need recommendation for strong trailer hitch

Thanks for the info.

Yes, the plan would be to add air spring assists to the rear shocks, which would counter the extra weight of the bike.

Unfortunately in Japan trailers have to be registered and brought through inspection every a couple years, just like the cars do. And storage would be an ...

Need recommendation for strong trailer hitch

Hi all,

I would like to carry a dirt bike on the back of my bongo using a trailer hitch with a tongue weight of at least 150kg. The ones I've seen on this forum only have a trailer ball. The one I need must have a 2" square receiver that will allow me to mount a motorcycle carrier to it. Like this ...

Re: Fixing rough idle on a 2500cc V-6: finally fixed!

It took so long to fix because I just kept procrastinating till the problem got too annoying to ignore. The solution came by asking my Mazda mechanic of all people   He recommended changing the spark plugs and at that time discovered the broken distributor cap!

Thanks for merging ...

Fixing rough idle on a 2500cc V-6: finally fixed!

A couple years back I posted about a rough idling problem in this now-locked thread.
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10143&start=0

Finally got the issue resolved. It turned out that one of the leads in the distributor cap was broken. A new distributor cap, a fresh set of ...

Re: Headlights

My 1996 Bongo's headlights are pathetic! :( They seem very bright (A very white/blue light like a xeon bulb) when you look at them but they hardly illuminate the road ahead at all! Any good mods anyone can suggest??
Malc.

A lot of the fake Xenon H4 bulbs are tinted blue to give that white/blue ...

I started up the Bongo tonight in the driveway to check out the problem again. On closer scrutiny I realized that in park it idles perfectly steady at 700 rpms (the top of the tach needle is at the bottom of the 3/4 mark on the tach).

The problem starts when I shift into drive and keep the brake ...

Thanks dandy. Btw, do you think new spark plugs and wires would help? The Bongo's got 150,000km on it. I bought it at 136,000km, and have no idea when the plugs and wires were last changed.

Are the 2WD bongos front wheel drive?

Just wondering if the 2WD are front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. I noticed the igmaynard site mentions it's the latter, but the lack of a drive shaft tunnel has me a bit confused

Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into this. Any idea if cleaning the idle control valve is something that someone with little mechanical experience can do themselves? Will a gasoline additive work or do I need to remove the part and manually clean it?

Thanks again.

Fixing rough idle on a 2500cc V-6?

Hi all, nOOb here :) I've had a '97 Bongo V6 for a couple years now but just discovered this site tonight. Wish I had found it sooner!

Lately my Bongo's started to idle a bit roughly when the transmission's in drive and the car is stopped at red lights, etc. The tach needle hovers around 700, then ...
